ARTIFACT #1-GROUP ACTIVITY DURING A LESSON
During the Holocaust unit I created, students spent time analyzing Nazi propaganda. This assignment was paired with a reading about propaganda and misinformation. The students completed a gallery walk to observe the propaganda. They took notes on the images using a template I provided them with. Below is a picture of the students observing and taking notes. This collaborative activity helped engage all students with each other and the topic at hand. After the students observed the propaganda without context, I showed them the same images on a PowerPoint that had explanations of what was being shown. This activity helped the students understand the depth of what we were discussing. I worked earlier in the semester on observation and it was fascinating to watch them put this tool into action.
ARTIFACT #2-WHOLE CLASS ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY

This is an image of a "step to the line" activity I did with my students. During a lesson on Jewish ghettos, we had a conversation about how society can work together if challenges are posed against it. First, I prompted the classes to think about which is more important--similarities or differences. Then, I gave students a series of prompts and the students responded by stepping to the line. For example, one of the prompts was "I have struggled with my mental health before." The students who resonated with this statement stepped to the line. This activity did a great job of showing commonalities between the individuals in the classroom. It helped create a communal learning environment where students are honest and willing to listen to one another.
