I'm passionate about studying English because I think language has the ability to depict what is sacred and real in our world. Because of this, I think English teachers have a large responsibility when presenting readings to students. Language learning and storytelling should begin in delight and this is something I think is often lost in the way ELA is taught in today's educational system. Some of my favorite writers that I've studied in college are Flannery O'Connor, Emily Dickinson, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Robert Frost. In my free time, I like to read a variety of books but I especially love memoirs and creative non-fictional works.
